More apples?

Barbara De Angelis:
Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver.
Benjamin Jowett:
We cannot seek or attain health, wealth, learning, justice or kindness in general. Action is always specific, concrete, individualized, unique.
Blaise Pascal:
Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.
Charles Kuralt:
The everyday kindness of the back roads more than makes up for the acts of greed in the headlines.

“Is my wound finally healing?
Gwad… that’s a mystery… it feels more than less painful… o.-lll”
Yeap… that was something I was wondering a week ago… and here I am now, without that gapping hole in my shin… the pus is gone and in its place is purple and pinkish skin… haha
I reckon another week or so and I will be able to go swimming liao~
Woohoo!
-does the dance of joy-

I know its been quite a while since I last typed, my bad… kanna hit by the lazy and busy bug at the same time.
Is that even possible?
Oh well… every time I wanna start typing about the stuff I have been up to, I find something else to do… and then when I am free, I get too lazy to do it in the end… recipe for getting nothing and everything done and not done aye?
-hysterical laughter-

What have I been up to?
Waterways Watch stuff, Church stuff, TKD stuff, Library books, Sleeping.
Trying to spend time with my friends.
That would about sum it up I guess, it could be and is rather crazy during the holidays.
Running from here to there and back again, like the headless chicken… as usual… I can so imagine Yang Mui rolling her eyes… haha
Yes, Yang Mui, I am getting to be busier now than I am during the normal school term… AGAIN.
-loud psychotic laughter-

We finally had Swee Shoon’s belated, belated Birthday dinner… yea, the one we have been planning for the past two months… materialised on Monday (17/07/2006), right after we all went down to SMU for the matriculation talk on volunteerism. As headed by Eugene and Yilinn.

My family’s been plagued with sickness after sickness… from TKM getting horrible headaches to my mum getting the flu and a splinter in her foot… shesh… the weather is driving all of us over the edge man…

I can’t wait to get back into training… to be brutally honest:
I CAN’T WAIT TO GET BACK INTO TRAINING!
There! I said it, or rather, I shouted it.
My legs feel itchy every time I see my friends kicking targets and doing warm ups… at least now I can do a pretty decent poomsae… the crap thing is that I kinda did too much the other day and now it hurts like a *itch… gwad… I am so wanting to go for my black grading to get it over and done with… but I have a feeling that I will have to postpone it for another 3 months… make sure I am completely healed… after all, I am going to be living with my knees until I kick the bucket or rapture… whichever comes first ;)
Speaking of which, I haven had the chance to go and get my referral from the polyclinic.
Its part busy and part irritation at the waiting time that is keeping me away this time…
Everyone keeps telling me to go during weekdays because there are supposed to be less people during the weekdays… the problem is that in Hougang, there are A LOT of old people and since everyone else advises to go to the polyclinic during the weekdays, everyone goes during that time and that stretches the waiting time to at least 5 hours.
Yes! I lie not.
Bluff you I get money meh? :p
-more hysterical laughter-
Seriously, just ask any of my family members… they’ve got plenty of tales about that place…
Now I need to put aside a day to do that wait… need a good book to help me pass the time as well… heh

Back to TKD, grading was good… my kids did ok, and everything was good except for the small problem of everyone not turning up on time for their gradings. This in part was my fault. I did not foresee the possibility of the examiner speeding everything up.
The good : Everything turned out fine in the end. :)

The Whampoa Invitational is this Sunday.
So is the weigh-in for the 33rd Pesta Sukan aka TKD Nationals.
I am going to be spending more than half my day in the Whampoa region. O.O
I am looking forward to that day with part dread and part anticipation…
Last year I took part, this year I play a different and more multifaceted role. I personally trained two teams and am in charge of the entire Kovan contingent – admin wise.
Although I push my kids to the point where I feel I could be like a slave drive, I just want them to do their best… AND BEAT THE WHAMPOA TEAM INTO THE GROUND!
I really want them to have fun as well.
It’s been a maddening one and a half weeks.
Considering the time spent training my teams, I would think they have already done very well for themselves. Some had to relearn the patterns, while others have had to learn new ones… the latter batch was only allowed to pull that kind of stunt because I felt that they were capable of doing that.
My wallet’s gonna suffer after the tournament coz I intend to buy them some gifts in recognition of their efforts… Shhh… don’t tell them ok?
I do wonder how they are going to perform on that day itself, but regardless, I am proud of my kids.
I suppose that is where certain teachers find their drive for teaching.
To pass on knowledge and see it bear fruit has got to be one of the most satisfying sensations. :)
Not something that money can buy. Period.

Praise God!
My ministry at church was originally facing a serious drought in manpower, but two youths have signed up to join the family!
Woohoo~
New blood!
-does the dance of joy again-

Volunteering at WWS has its benefits, I have learnt much and given much and fostered tighter bonds with the members.
My time is not going to waste. :D
Speaking of which, today’s session consisted of sailors from the US Navy coming down to do a joint project with WWS and Mayflower Secondary school.
I’ll get to the point(s):
The weather was hot.
Work got done.
Fresh from my injury, I went cycling as part of the session.
The guys were not bad looking, but not that great looking compared to the previous batch.
I started swooning when I saw one of the guys.
-migumi laughter-
Annie, bless her soul, went to ask him his vital statistics (in front of me some more…)
-more migumi laughter-
The crew was from the Kitty Hwak.
Solid stuff man… in more ways than one.
-even more and now, loud migumi laughter-
I’ll let you know my plans when the next course of action pertaining to the US Navy has been executed… heh~
Savvy?

Hmm… since I am on the subject of sailors:
I went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest last Thursday.
Was it good?
The action and plot was not bad.
Would I watch it again?
Probably not. Waiting for the VCD to come out…
Why?
This film suffers from the same problem as Superman Returns.
IT HAS NO FINALITY TO IT!
The director and writers make it far too painfully obvious that there is going to be a another film which we must watch in order for us to see what is to become of the characters.
I left the cinema with more questions than answers lor… do you have any idea now irritating that is??!?!
And it is not as if the movie is anything like LOTR.
Those movies have an excuse mainly because they are based on books which need to be told with as much quality as possible, hence dragging on to 3 films and countless hours of director’s cuts.
Pirates is based on a Disneyland ride for goodness sake!
By watching this particular ‘installment’ of the franchise, I have in basically and indirectly forced myself to watch the 3 movie which is coming out in XXX number of months…
And then the whole brouhaha will start all over again with the movie breaking all sorts of box-office records… and why?
Because everyone is being forced to watch it!
Blackmail I say!
Freaking blackmail!
BUT!
Before you start wanting to bash my door down or finding my number to flame me, I admit that the movie kept me on the edge of my seat and the special effects were very interesting.
Johnny a.k.a. Captain Jack Sparrow made the movie worth my 8 bucks.
I was not in it for what’s his face… though he did make for good eye candy… Johnny is after all – the original pirate, aye?
“Hide the rum.”
And as Lucien would remind us:
“And the apples as well?”

Heard the song sung by Carrie Underwood during AI Season 4 and it brought back memories… hehe… listened to it on the radio the other day and though it was time I posted the song… just to get it out of my system…
Carrie has a power packed voice xia~

Heart – Alone

I hear the ticking of the clock
I'm lying here, the room's pitch dark
I wonder where you are tonight
No answer on the telephone
And the night goes by so very slow
Oh I hope that it won't end though
Alone

Til now I always got by on my own
I never really cared until I met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone

You don't know how long i have wanted
to touch your lips and hold you tight
You don't know how long I have waited
and I was going to tell you tonight
But the secret is still my own
and my love for you is still unknown
Alone

Til now I always got by on my own
I never really cared until I met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone
Alone
Alone

Before I sign off:
Happy Belated Birthday Qin Ting!
Hehe~
